Randy Johnson

Senior Pastor
Randy is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from high school, he attended Southwest Baptist University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. Following college he received a Master of Religious Education Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Randy is married to Janice, his wife of 38 years. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.

Randy surrendered to the ministry in his junior year of college, never imagining that journey would lead to the pastorate. He thought he would end up doing recreation ministry or youth ministry, but God, as He so often does, had other plans. Randy has pastored churches in Oklahoma, Missouri, and now Kansas. He began his ministry at First Baptist Church of Iola in June, 2015.

Randy has always been involved in Southern Baptist life, serving at the association, state, and national levels. He served nine years as a member of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention, and currently is a Trustee of Southwest Baptist University.

John and Jenna Higginbotham

Youth Leaders
John and Jenna met at Ottawa University when they both participated in a drama ministry team called Surge Ministries. Jenna graduated in 2007 with an Elementary Education degree and John graduated in 2008 with a degree in Theatre Productions. After graduating they got married in June of 2008. They now have three beautiful children, Eliana, Easton, and Emersyn. Currently John works at the Bowlus Fine Arts Center as the Assistant Technical Director and Jenna works for USD 257 as an Instructional Coach.

Both John and Jenna had fabulous youth group experiences as teenagers and they consider that a huge reason why their faith is so strong today! They are hoping to have an impact in the lives of the youth at FBC, like their leaders did for them!
